I wish ours were that low! Its up to $3.25 in PA.

EDIT: Ok apparently TIMG tags don't work anymore.

Actually, that was a random picture I found on google :)
It is accurate though, we are currently in the $2.90s

No, RAM from any PPC Mac won't work in any Intel Mac. Apple use a different type of RAM in their Intel machines and whilst all Intel Macs (aside from the Mac Pro) use the same type of RAM the same isn't true of the old PPC Macs.

Your 1GB stick won't work at all.

Cheers - I suspected as much.

Looking forward to replacing it next year tho' - by then under 1500 is going to go along way - plus my wife qualifies for a discount because she works for the NHS.

    Iain

Is it now possible to use the 21,5" screen as an external display?
Is the difference between hd 6750m and 6770m a noticeable one?

    <snip>
You should never feel full or stuffed. A donut is not faster to mow down than an Apple. It's not more filling either. It's tons more calories though.
    <snip>

    ^^^^ All of that.

A huge problem (no pun intended) in America is the gigantic portions masquerading as meals in fast-food and casual restaurants. Some of the dishes available at very popular chains are absolutely ridiculous in size. Yet we buy them because they are a "good value." And let's face it - more often than not, we make a pretty good run at finishing off our plates, don't we? Unfortunately, that's just continuing the validation of the portion sizes...

I'm 6'-1" and 210# and when I go to a burger joint now, I usually get the kid's meal. I can't imagine going back to Jack's "Ultimate Cheeseburger" which in all honesty I used to love. :(

After the Month of Kernel Bugs, are you concerned about Mac OS X security?

    No - 62%

See, that bugs me. Everyone should be concerned about security. I believe OS X's overriding security feature is obscurity, and once that situation changes I can see the OS falling over very quickly.

One of the weakest links in the chain is the user, and if the user is not concerned then you have a problem.

Dont get me wrong, I think OS X is great, but it just hasn't been "weathered" in the wild like Windows has. If OS X becomes a viable target then we're in for a bumpy ride.

OSX is based on FreeBSD, which has been around for an eternity and includes modules from even older Unixy stuff. There's paying attention, there's worrying, and then there's running around with your hair on fire digging for a bomb shelter with your bare hands. We're at the pay attention stage.
MOKB showed that the kernel can be a source of bugs and that OS design should incorporate this problem into the design. This doesn't mean panic or worry or take a pair of scissors to your broad-band connection, this means Apple has some things to fix. It also showed that wireless is inherently insecure and the problems with drivers can affect Windows, Mac OSX and Linux.
Again, MOKB isn't all that important, it's Apple's response to problems that really matters.

I always wondered where "huffy" came from. :p

    [/off topic]

AAPL will recover, but perhaps not soon. The markets are in a state of confusion right now (I can imagine that this week was one roller coaster for day traders!), but Apple is a solid company with solid earnings, solid growth forecasts, and a solid roadmap for the near future.

I mean, it's not as if Apple is taking on suspect mortgages...:p

Huffy, of course, is manufactured in China by the Russell Corporation. :)

It is true, if your Apple stock has declined, selling is probably the worst thing you can do. If you thought it was worth $169, then it is definitely worth $130 to you. Nothing has really changed since it dropped from its high.

Anyone considered how this (technically) will work? How will the iPod detect where your hands are?

This seems to be a refinement of what the iPod and touch pads have been doing all along. Right now those can detect your finger through an insulated plastic layer, and even through clothes on top of that.

The main difference here would seem to be in smarter software that can do something useful with smaller changes in the electrical fields.

it's an observation, whether you like it or not. But anyway, my post didn't revolve around that point, you just blew out of proportion. Claiming i'm "bored" in your little rant is comical.

Think what you want, but it was still a crappy thing to assume.

Don't believe everything you read on the web, this is 100% not true. If Apple was in the business of limiting devices sales to the US market, Verizon would have been a great option. Fortunately, or unfortunately, (depending on how you look at it) GSM is essentially the global standard for 2G, so AT&T or T-mobile would have been the only possible carriers for the iPhonePerhaps you meant not 100% true. I have heard, from multiple sources, that Verizon wanted more influence on the design of the phone, layout of the OS, and structure of apps and distribution, as well as a larger share of profit. If you have information which suggests otherwise, please do tell. As stated before, a GSM carrier makes more sense for a global phone. Now, with its proven success, perhaps Verizon would be more willing to make some concessions for marketing the iPhone in the USA, as this would greatly relieve the bandwidth burden AT&T is currently experiencing.

I cannot believe people are still stupid enough to believe that they will come out with a white iPhone 4 (My personal two cents). It makes absolutely no sense for them unless they really did plan to postpone the release of the next generation iPhone.

Just look at the mediatrends especially how much of the media was hyped on here with bestbuy stocking them up and all other major retailers all of a sudden having the white SKUs in their systems.

Get real guys, if you want a white iphone from Apple. Mostlikely you will never get one hence why i gave up and bought a conversion lol

they probably had it in the labs, but the pricing finally came down this year. 3D is a dud and internet enabled TV's dropped in price by 50% in some cases since last summer

if apple doesn't get into this market then itunes is going to be dead in a few years along with other idevices

Yeah, if it weren't exclusive the load would be split between multiple networks, and also increase competition in terms of network performance, features, and pricing. But no, that would be too logical...

You suck Apple! At least you have a chance to correct your mistake, just don't renew the agreement with AT&T.

Microsoft sounds like it wants to start a revolution in the music industry, but they don't know how to do it. And besides, the music industry just went through a revolution with Apple, so consumers don't want to go through it again.

A part of me wants to say Microsoft should just stay out because they have no experience, but look at the spalsh they made with the Xbox. People said the same thing to Microsoft back then. The video game market was crowded and seemingly had no room for another player, especially one who eats Rabbit poo for breakfast, but somehow M$ muscled its way in there. I just don't see the same thing happening this time with Zune-i-wanna-go-stick-my-hand-in-a-crocodile's-mouth.

Highly doubt it. Might just be an issue that a few devices are having but not across the board.
