really sorry to hear that. reading about the insanely long lines at the apple store in brea, i headed over to best buy in fullerton instead. arrived at 1p and was 13th or so in line. i wish you all the luck in getting an ipad soon.
and i find that really surprising. despite at&t's faster (when available) data speeds, i've always found coverage to be completely spotty, especially in fullerton and brea. opted for a verizon ipad.

Yeah, after all if you buy a coffee there u have to sign a waiver of responsibility for burns, then reply YES three times to the cashier asking "Are you sure you want to buy this potentially scalding-hot coffee?" ... but what's it matter, thanks to people not wanting to take responsibility we can't buy coffee above 82 degrees fahrenheit. lol

I apologize for the big letters. I'm a mac newb and this will be my first mac. I have been waiting for this new macbook to buy and whats funny is that I walked into the Mac Store yesterday, the guy new everything about the product but seemed a little too clueless about the product cycle. He was like.. "uh, could be next February but no one ever knows". I asked how releases are typically handled for macs. He replies "I'm not really sure. It's anyone's guess". So I knew he was trying to avoid talking about it.

Its clear Apple is missing something in the midrange desk top line. Its time for the Cube or Macintosh or headless iMac or Max Mini or something. iMac isnt for everyone and the world has billions of big beautiful displays just waiting for a midrange Mac but if Apple prices it again the same as the towers it will be another failure. Its way past time for the next Macintosh. Needs a real GPU, at least 1 expansion slot and should be priced right along with ugly iMac:D or a pinch below.
This is not beyond the realm of possibility. I could see Apple modifying the Mac mini at some point to make the graphics card more accessible and upgradeable. But of course it would be a laptop graphics card and not a full desktop graphics card. Do ATI / nVidia sell something like mini-PCI graphics cards to consumers?
But anyway, althought it's a possibility I think it's a slim one, since gamers are just not Apple's focus right now...

Lets assume I opt for a ssd hard drive and my mac ships 4 weeks from today also lets assume Lion comes out in 6 weeks. Typically apple gives the upgrade for free for anyone that purchased a mac in the last month. Would you still get the upgrade for free since you purchased the imac 6 weeks ago or is the upgrade determened by shipping date?

I am not sure why it won't die. I suppose they might, I just can not think of any reason why. The Apple TV as a STB is a much better fit for them. Might they sell this to tv makes as an embedded option. Maybe. Will they make their own TV, I still don't see the point.

Both Apple and Amazon want to be your one-stop shop for media. If you're purchasing your music from one of them, they hope that you'll also purchase your movies, tv shows, and e-books from them as well.
Amazon has an even greater incentive because of everything else they sell. They'll gladly take a profit hit on a song if it means that buyer will come back and buy a stereo (or an iMac!)

MBP = 4 years old
iMac = 3 years old
And both will be upgraded to Lion. No problems yet , even 1080p content plays well, slight lag to catch up when RWD or FF other than that no problems. :)
Apple do have some great lines. My iMac is 5 years old yet I just finished Portal 2 (in Bootcamp, medium settings at native res. Overclocked GPU), I've developed and tested HD games, watched HD films on it, managed very large data libraries (iPhoto; 50gb. iTunes; 320gb). Still runs just fine.
Infact I could have survived another year on it if the DVD drive didn't recently pack in.

Arrrh I've been waiting for one of these for ages! I gave up and got a standard Apple Wireless Mouse a few months back! Arrgh!
I hope they have improved some of the small glitches people have with them, making it generally a nicer product, as I know some people totally hate its guts!
Different colour variations might be interesting, but the laser technology seems a step in the right direction at least, showing they have at least put a bit of thought into it and not just made the standard one with a bluetooth transceiver and batteries.
Heres to hoping its a top notch product!

At first, I thought it was more stable.
However something seems to have gone wrong with my audio.
iTunes won't start, when I try it brings up an error message:
The iTunes application could not be opened. An unknown error occurred (-200).
There is no sound in Flash videos (Safari or Chrome) is missing, or any sound in Jitsi (VoIP client), or in MPlayer (Video player).
Strangely enough, QuickTime has sound. Have no idea what's going on here.

I have some issues with quicktime as well and some other stuff (Can anyone tell me if their auto importer works??!?!) but I was able to clear some issues up by going to the manual download link posted earlier in this thread and DL'ing the update myself and reinstalling it.
At first, I thought it was more stable.
However something seems to have gone wrong with my audio.
